Huobi Dispels Rumors Circulating Regarding a Blockchain Phone
Huobi Not Launching a Blockchain Phone – Reports Are Fake News
Huobi has long been a leading exchange globally. Founded back in 2013, it is an established name with few rivals that can match its seniority. While the Singaporean based exchange is mostly popular in its native Asia, it has quite a few western fans.
In addition to being a successful exchange, Huobi have also launched a native exchange token in 2018 and a stablecoin recently. The native exchange token has been aptly named Huobi Token, it currently is #15 on coinmarketcap and is trading at $4.09 currently.
Blockchain Phone Drama
Many reports have been circulating smaller crypto news websites and elsewhere regarding Huobi releasing a phone. This would put Huobi in direct competition with Sirin Labs, HTC Exodus and certain Samsung phones.
Unfortunately, these reports have been fake news written by lazy journalists. Huobi recently took to Twitter to dispel the myth.
Um...So apparently we launched a smartphone?ð¤ pic.twitter.com/GQDiWwyXGCâ HuobiGlobal (@HuobiGlobal) September 4, 2019
This is a bit of a sad development as the world of blockchain phones is ripe for disruption. Furthermore, a blockchain based phone created in-part by a large exchange could be very interesting. The amount of DApps and functionalities could have been endless & would have a lot of potential.
Should Huobi choose to reverse its decision and release a blockchain based phone, it could potentially give Huobi Token additional functionalities. They could take note of Sirin's SRN token and make it a payment solution for a DApp store.
Additional functionalities could push Huobi Token even further up and potentially fire up a competition with Binance's BNB.
